Tactical EMS
MISSION STATEMENT
Emergency Medical Services, New Bedford is dedicated to enhancing the probability of NBPD-SRT mission success and promoting public safety. Our primary objective is to support NBPD-SRT by facilitating the health and safety of the Team inside the perimeter during the Call Out. Secondary objective is to provide care to all persons associated with the Call Out. EMS- NB, SRT shall be responsible for initial access, assessment and stabilization of those victims, bystanders and suspects within the "warm/hot zone" until extricated to local EMS providers.
OPERATIONS
The Medics operate in an environment different from conventional Emergency Medical Services. Types of operations may include: high-risk warrant service, hostage-barricade situations, emergency ordinance disposal, executive protection details, civil demonstration or protest, dynamic training operations, aquatic operations, search and rescue missions, and acts of terrorism. The Medics are issued ALS/BLS supplies, Black Hawk Stomp 2 Medical Bag, Vehicle and Personal Protection Equipment. The Team provides threat assessments, mission support, and serves as the liaison between the New Bedford Police Department-Special Reaction Team (SRT) and local EMS resources during the Call Out.
FUTURE PROJECTS
Maintain our relationship with Dr. Baez, Dr. Calloway and the Brigham & Women's Hospital. Complete the special project waiver, develop our Pre-Hospital Paralytic Program (EMS-NB PPP) and expand our scope of practicing medicine. Deploy a Bicycle Medic Team.
